ADRIAN, Mich. – The Warrior baseball team wrapped up a busy week with a trip to Adrian, Michigan, on Sunday afternoon for a WHAC doubleheader with the Siena Heights Saints. On the road, the Warriors split the contest, winning game one 12-4 before falling in game two 3-5.
In the opener, the Saints took control early as they held Tech scoreless, while their offense tallied four runs across the first two innings. In the top of the third, the Warriors' offense came to life as they took their first lead of the contest with six runs in the frame. Defensively for Tech, the third inning was also the turning point as they held the Saints scoreless from then on. Tech would tally two in the fourth and would add four more runs across the fifth and sixth innings on their way to a 12-4 win.
Ben Morrison and
Jordan Malott led the team with three hits apiece, while
Brycen Hannah had a team-high three RBIs.
In game two, the Orange and Black were on the board first, scoring a run in each of the first two innings to lead 2-0 after two. The Saints responded with four runs in the third to steal the lead from Tech. After a scoreless fourth, the Saints added one more to their tally, leading 5-2. Tech earned one run back in the sixth, cutting the lead to a 3-5 deficit, but was held at bay through the final three innings as the Saints held on to win game two. Hannah led the Warriors in hits in game two, going three for five at the plate.
The Warriors now hold a 15-5 record in the WHAC and sit at 24-13 overall. Tech is back in action on Tuesday, April 15, hosting Saint Francis for a single nine-inning contest, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
