FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #7 Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team started postseason play today with a WHAC Tournament first round matchup against #6 seed Madonna University. The Warriors enter the tournament as the #3 seed after being WHAC Regular Season Co-Champions and losing out on tiebreakers. In their first meeting back on March 26th, the Warriors would defeat the Crusaders 22-2. Today's tournament game would end in a similar fashion as Tech would dominate with a 16-0 shutout victory!
The Warriors would jump out to a 7-0 lead through the first 15 minutes of play, highlighted by a hattrick from sophomore
Kylie King. The second quarter would go quiet on both sides as neither side was able to beat the goaltenders as Tech would still lead 7-0 at halftime. The Tech offense would get going again in the third quarter with seven more goals, three of which came from
Michelle Farrell.
Lauren Hainlin and
Da'zah Regusters would each score one goal in the fourth quarter to finish off the win as the Warriors would prevail 16-0. It is the Warriors first shutout since the 2023 season. Farrell would lead all scorers with eight points from four goals and four assists, while also registering six ground balls, four draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Hainlin would finish with four goals on the day and
Noelle Ricci would chip in one goal and three assists. Regusters would pick up a huge 13 draw controls and seven ground balls, while adding two caused turnovers, two goals, and an assist.
Cyena Williams would pick up six ground balls and score one goal in the game.
Kat Hoff would earn the shutout victory in goal for the Warriors, making three saves in just over 55 minutes of action.
Sydney Oberdorfer would complete the shutout, playing the final 4:38 of the game.
The Warriors pick up their tenth win of the season, now sitting at 10-3 overall. Tech will travel back to Indianapolis, Indiana on Thursday, April 17th for the WHAC Tournament Semifinal against #9 Marian University as they look to avenge their only conference loss of the season sustained last Wednesday in a close fought 12-14 game.
