Warriors Win Revenge Game at Marian, Move on to WHAC Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The #8 Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team was back in Indy to battle #9 Marian University just eight days after suffering their only conference loss of the season. The Warriors would get their revenge in the WHAC Tournament semifinal game, defeating the Knights 14-13 in a thrilling back and forth affair.

The hosts would get off to a quick 2-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game, but the Warriors would even the score midway through the quarter, until a flurry of late goals in the final two minutes saw the Knights take a 4-3 lead into the second period. After a quick Marian goal, the Warriors would go on a 4-0 run with two goals coming from Da'zah Regusters to take a 7-5 lead. Both sides would add one more goal in the second quarter as Tech led 8-6 at halftime. In the second half, Marian would again start the quarter strong with two goals to tie it at eight. After Noelle Ricci put Tech back on top 9-8 with six minutes to go in the third, Marian would equalize with eight seconds left to make it level heading into the final 15 minutes of action. A pair of Kylie King goals and another from Cyena Williams would put the Warriors ahead 12-10 with just under eight minutes to play, however Marian would answer with a pair of goals just a minute apart to tie it back up at 12 with under seven minutes to go. Noelle Ricci would give the Warriors the advantage on the power play at 5:56 and Brook Maul would score a crucial goal at 2:47 to make it 14-12. Marian would draw back within one, but the Warrior defense would deny the Knights another goal over the final two minutes and hold on to win 14-13 in a thriller. Overall, the game was tied at six different times throughout the contest, but the Warriors would never lose control of the lead after going ahead 6-5 in the second quarter. Stat lines would be very similar in a truly even match with the same numbers of shots on goal, saves, draw controls, and clears and only a difference of two on ground balls. Michelle Farrell would lead the Warriors with six points, scoring two goals and adding four assists. She would also finish with six draw controls, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Da'zah Regusters, Kylie King, and Noelle Ricci would all score hattricks in the game. Regusters would also add six ground balls, five draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Kat Hoff would grab six ground balls and make 13 big saves in goal for the Warriors, earning the win.

The Warriors improve to 11-3 overall on the season and will play for the WHAC Tournament Championship on Saturday, April 19th at #6 Lawrence Tech University in Southfield, Michigan.
