SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The #8 Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team hit the road for a second straight top ten matchup as they played #9 Lawrence Tech University. Both teams would enter the day as part of a four-way tie for first in the WHAC standings at 4-1, but it would be the Warriors who would prevail with an 18-11 victory to stay atop the conference.
The Warriors would dominate at the start, something they have failed to do in some of their bigger matchups. They scored the first five against Lawrence Tech and led 7-1 after the first quarter. The Blue Devils would start to claw back in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to four, but IT would still lead 9-5 at halftime.
Jake Deacon would make sure the Warriors would keep that lead, scoring a hattrick in the third quarter as the Orange & Black would take over with a 6-1 advantage to lead 15-6 with one quarter to go. The two sides would trade goals in the fourth quarter until the Blue Devils would gain the advantage late in the final minute, but the deficit was too great as Indiana Tech would win comfortably 18-11. Deacon would lead the Warriors with eight points from four goals and four assists, and five ground balls.
Devin Macomber would add seven points from four goals and three assists in addition to three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Josh Bramley would add five points for Tech, while
Zach Spisz would post three caused turnovers and six ground balls.
Kyle TwoBulls would lead the Warriors with seven ground balls. He would also make ten saves in goal and earn the win for the Warriors.
The Warriors improve to 12-2 overall on the season and 5-1 in WHAC play with one regular season game remaining. After toady's results, the Warriors and Madonna are the only two teams still with one loss in conference. However, Tech defeated the Crusaders last Saturday and holds the head-to-head tiebreaker. #5 Madonna will play Taylor in their season finale, while the Warriors will play #6 Aquinas on Saturday, April 19th at 4pm in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
