Softball Sweeps Lourdes with Back-to-Back Routs

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech softball team hosted the Lourdes University Gray Wolves in a WHAC doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon where the Warriors would outscore their opponents 18-1 over the two games in back-to-back routs.

In game one, the Tech offense would put up seven runs in the second inning alone to take a commanding lead with five Warriors picking up RBIs in the inning. Lourdes would score one run in the third inning, but Tech would answer right back with two more runs to make it 9-1. The Warriors would add a tenth run in the fourth inning and Lourdes would be unable to score in the fifth innings as Tech would win 10-1 in five innings after. Maire Trouba, Kiersten Delaney, and Carlye Walter would all finish the game with two RBIs, while Melissa Cabrera and Kaelie Kugler would both add one. Savannah Bravo would start on the mound for the Warriors, going 4.0 innings, allowing just two hits and one run, and throwing eight strikeouts. Mallory Stinson pitched 1.0 innings and allowed two hits. Bravo would earn the win, her 13th of the season.

The Warriors would continue the scoring in game two, scoring eight runs across five innings, including one in the first, three in the second, one in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth. Allison Davis would pick up the RBI single in the sixth to walk it off and end the game on the eight-run rule as Tech would win game two 8-0. In addition to Davis, Melissa Cabrera, Summer McDougall-Gerig, and Carlye Walter would each pick up one RBI in the game, while Kaelie Kugler would lead the game with two RBIs. Walter would start on the mound for the Warriors, finishing with 5.0 innings pitches, four strikeouts, three hits allowed, and no runs allowed. Mallory Stinson would pitch 1.0 inning, throwing one strikeout and allowing no hits and no runs. Walter would earn her 12th win of the season.

The Warriors improve to 26-10 overall this season and 14-4 in conference play. They will play a doubleheader at Concordia University tomorrow afternoon in Ann Arbor, Michigan starting at 2:30pm.
