KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Indiana Tech baseball team concluded their season on Wednesday afternoon as they fell to Cumberland (Tenn.), 3-8, on day three of the NAIA National Tournament.
In their third game of the opening round, the Warriors got off to a fast start as a two-run home run from
Jordan Malott in the bottom half of the first inning put the Warriors on top. After a scoreless second inning, the Warriors added another run to their tally in the third inning, leading 3-0 after three. The tides turned in the fifth as the Phoenix drove in four runs, grabbing their first lead of the contest. After a blank sixth and seventh innings, Cumberland brought in one run in the eighth and three in the ninth to complete the victory and send the Warriors home.
Luke Huerta led the Warriors in hits, going five for five on the day, while
Jordan Malott led the team in RBIs with two.
The Warriors finish the season with a 38-21 record overall, going 20-8 in conference play, claiming their second straight WHAC Tournament Title, and making an NAIA National Tournament appearance.
