FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team hosted Grace College on Wednesday night in a nonconference clash, where the Warriors would fall to the Lancers 0-4.
Grace would control the game at the start and would score two quick goals just under three minutes apart in the 16
th and 19
th minutes. The Lancers would add another in the 36
th minute from the penalty spot to make it 3-0. Despite allowing three first half goals,
Sara Cogoli would make five first half saves with multiple coming from point blank range to give the Warriors a fighting chance. However, Grace would make it 4-0 in the opening three minutes of the second half and never allow the Warriors to get back into the game. Tech wouldn't allow another goal but was unable to muster up any quality scoring chances to close the deficit.
Chante Perkins would register the lone shot on goal for the Warriors, while
Maiara Sharma would also put one shot toward goal. Cogoli would pick up another save in the second half to finish with six on the day over 66 minutes of action, while
Bre Wheatley would come in to relieve Cogoli for the final 24 minutes and would make three saves.
Tech drops to 0-2-0 and will hit the road for the first time this season when they travel to Elgin, Illinois to take on Judson University on Saturday, September 6
th at 12pm (CT).
