Warriors Pick Up Third Top 20 Win in Victory Over #6 Indiana Wesleyan

MARION, Ind. – The #12 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team picked up a huge win on Saturday night, knocking off #6 Indiana Wesleyan University in their final game before starting conference play next weekend. It is the Warriors third top 20 win of the season after beating #2 William Penn University (Iowa) and #20 University of Mobile (Ala.).

Tech would get off to a good start against the Wildcats, registering nine shots in the opening half compared to just three for Indiana Wesleyan. However, one of those three would hit the post at the 7th minute mark, but the Warriors would come away unscathed. Tech's third shot on goal would result in a 1-0 lead for the Warriors in the 12th minute as Fabian Hauer broke the deadlock, assisted by Mark Mc Daid. The cards would begin to fly toward the end of the first half and carry into the second half in a hard physical contest. A total of 16 yellow cards and one red card would be issued throughout the match with 39 total fouls occurring. The Warriors would not let that deter them in the match as they continued to control most of the game. Tech would have a 7-2 shot advantage in the second half, making it 16-5 for the game and 8-0 in shots on target. IWU's goalkeeper would play a big role in keeping the game close, finishing with seven saves, but Mc Daid's first half goal would propel the Warriors to a 1-0 victory over the Wildcats. Cuba Grant would pick up the win for the Warriors, playing all 90 minutes in goal.

The Warriors wrap up nonconference play with a 4-2-1 record and will play Rochester Christian University in their WHAC opener on Saturday, September 20th at 1pm in Washington, Michigan.
