FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team celebrated in style on Saturday evening as they picked up their first win of the season, while recognizing their five seniors on senior day. The Warriors defeated Cornerstone University 1-0 on a beautiful free kick goal from senior
Jordan Kallet.
With senior day festivities getting underway prior to the match, the Warriors celebrated their five seniors:
Jocelyn Alfonso,
Sara Cogoli,
Jordan Kallet, Addison Nellis, and
Diana Ramirez. Tech would come out firing in the game with a newfound intensity off the heels of their senior day celebration. The Warriors were aggressive in tackles, keeping possession, and creating opportunities, while the defense held strong against the Golden Eagles attack. The first half would end tied at zero with both teams competing for control in the game. In the second half, Tech would draw a foul just outside the 18-yard box. Kallet stepped up and hit a perfect free kick to the top right corner, scoring and giving the Warriors the lead in the 58
th minute. The Orange & Black continued to fight for a second goal and keep the Golden Eagles from scoring. Cornerstone would register six shots in the second half but senior goalkeeper
Sara Cogoli denied the Golden Eagles time and time again. She would finish the game with five saves and help pick up the Warriors first win and clean sheet of the season.
The Warriors improve to 1-6-0 overall and 1-2-0 in WHAC play. Tech will visit Madonna University in their next game on Wednesday, October 1
st 2pm in Livonia, Michigan.
