FORT WAYNE, Ind. The Indiana Tech men's hockey team put together a strong weekend against Michigan–Dearborn, earning a 4–1 victory at home before battling to a 1–1 draw on the road, continuing to solidify its place near the top of the WHAC standings.
Indiana Tech came out flying in the opener at Fort Wayne, striking early and controlling the pace. Francesco Santaniello opened the scoring just 2:15 into the game, finishing a play set up by Pavel Svoboda and Connor Funke. Less than two minutes later, JP Scaringi doubled the lead with a goal off an assist from Malik Ali, giving the Warriors an early 2–0 advantage.
After Michigan–Dearborn responded in the second period, the Warriors answered quickly as Michael Dalaly restored the two-goal lead late in the frame, finishing a setup from Ali and Zane Myler. Indiana Tech sealed the win in the third period when Brodie Burge buried an unassisted goal, closing out a 4–1 win. The Warriors finished with contributions from all lines and capitalized on special teams to keep control throughout the night.
In game two of the series the Warriors traveled to Dearborn. In the series the momentum shifted to Dearborn the following game, where Indiana Tech once again showed resilience in a tightly contested matchup. After Michigan–Dearborn scored midway through the second period, the Warriors responded just over a minute later as Mason Bazaluk found the back of the net off an assist from Aidan Dufort, evening the score at 1–1. The game ended in regulation as a tie, sending the teams into overtime, where neither side was able to score. The contest then moved to a shootout, which resulted in a 1-2 loss for Indiana Tech against Michigan–Dearborn.
The Warriors look to bounce back in their next matchup against Lawrence Tech, traveling to face them on Friday, January 30, before returning to Fort Wayne to close out the series.
