ALLEN PARK, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's and women's bowling teams went north for the last WHAC event of the season on Saturday, where both programs would emerge as WHAC Regular Season Champions by the end of the day!
At the WHAC Jamboree #4, the Tech men would total 6,773 pins to win the event in commanding fashion over runner-up St. Francis (Ill.) with 6,470 pins and Lawrence Tech (Mich.) with 6,404 pins.
Malakai Pettrie would lead the Warriors with 721 pins over three games to finish second overall for the tournament.
Hayden Tarris finished eighth overall with 674 pins,
Dylan Bulusan finished 13
th with 664 pins, and
Tuna Boncu finished 21
st with 649 pins for the Warriors.
On the women's side,
Libby Hurley finished second overall for the tournament to lead the Warriors to victory with 681 pins.
Meagan Kennedy was not far behind, as she finished fourth with 671 pins.
Jillian Treska was next for Tech, knocking down 498 pins. Overall, the Warriors totaled 5,975 pins, beating out Aquinas (Mich.) (5,769) and Lawrence Tech (Mich.) (5,762).
These wins secured important points for both Tech teams in the overall race for the WHAC regular season titles. The men would win three of the four WHAC events and take second place, totaling 88 points on the season, finishing ahead of second place Lawrence Tech (Mich.) with 70 points and St. Francis (Ill.) with 64 points. This is the second time in the last three seasons, and sixth overall, the Warriors have taken home the WHAC regular season title! The women swept the conference this season, winning all four WHAC events! They are the first team to accomplish this feat since Concordia (Mich.) did it in the 2013-14 season. Tech would finish with 92 points to claim the WHAC crown, ahead of Larence Tech (Mich.) with 73 points and Aquinas (Mich.) with 53 points. It is the fourth regular season title in the last five seasons and the seventh overall for the women's program.
