FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The 25
th-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team cruised to a 93-47 win over Defiance College on Alumni Day at the Schaefer Center.
Indiana Tech led 11-9 after seven minutes, but the Warriors closed out the first quarter on an 8-0 run to extend their advantage to 19-9 after one.
In the second quarter, Indiana Tech picked up where they left off in the first, using an 11-1 run to take a commanding 30-10 lead. Indiana Tech led 44-18 at the half.
The Warriors outscored Defiance 29-11 in the third and 20-18 in the fourth to secure a 93-47 win.
Indiana Tech had four in double figures. They were led by
Taylor Covington, who had 24 points, six assists and four steals.
Ryan Moorer had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Madison Vice added 12 points and three steals, and
Jaidyn Gulley picked up double-double number eight on the season with a 12-point, 12-rebound performance.
Durbin Thomas had a team-high seven assists.
The Warriors shot 50 percent (35-70) from the field and 38.2 percent (13-34) from three. They held Defiance to 34.5 percent shooting and 25 percent from three.
Indiana Tech moves to 18-4 on the year and 15-1 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Wednesday at Cleary.
