FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team hosted Madonna University in a WHAC contest at Warrior Athletic Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Tech would face a tall task going up against the conference leaders who were undefeated in WHAC play entering the day. However, the Warriors were coming in with some momentum after a good result against Aquinas last weekend. Against the Crusaders on Wednesday, Tech would compete well in the first half in some back-and-forth action. The Warriors would register four first half shots, compared to five for the Crusaders, while having three corner kicks to Madonna's one. After 45 minutes of play, the score remained 0-0 as both sides had chance in a good evenly played first half.
In the second half, the Crusaders would take control, scoring in the 53
rd minute to go up 1-0. Madonna would add to their lead in the 68
th, 78
th, and 90
th minutes of the game to win it 4-0 in the end. The Warriors would be unable to muster any offense in the second half with just two shots in the second 45 minutes, after a very promising first half.
Isidora Pozo,
Leticia Guimaraes, and
Laniya King would record the three shots on goal for the Warriors, while
Madison Strain made seven saves in goal, including a highlight worthy one-handed stop in the middle of the first half.
Indiana Tech is now 2-8-3 overall this season and 0-4-2 in WHAC play. The Warriors will play at Cornerstone University up next on Saturday, October 17
th at 7pm in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
