Warriors Bounce Back with Blowout Win Over Defiance

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #13 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team got back to winning ways on Wednesday with a blowout win over Defiance College at home.

Tech would strike early, scoring in the 4th minute of the game when Gui Moreira smashed home the rebound on an initially saved shot by Robin Vezinhet to give the Warriors the 1-0 lead. The Warriors would register 13 shots in the first half but were only to find the back of the net one time as the recent offensive struggles lingered into this one. However, in the second half, the Orange & Black would find their groove again with a four-goal outburst. Federico Confaloni would double the Warriors lead just 35 seconds into the second half, scoring on an assist from Isaac Coppinger. In the 55th minute, Coppinger would finish off a Tech corner kick set piece after Moreira crossed in a ball to Anderson Junior who headed it back across to Coppinger for the goal. Filip Maksimovic scored in the 73rd minute on an assist by Confaloni to make it 4-0 for the Warriors and four minutes later Junior would tap in a shot from Maksimovic to make it five for Tech. The Warriors outshot the Yellow Jackets 28-1 overall the game as they controlled the game and dominated every facet of play. Alan Fleischer started in goal for the Warriors and earned the win, while Marvin Kopp played the final 25 minutes in goal as the freshman duo combined for the shutout.

The Warriors improve to 11-4-2 overall on the season and 4-3-1 in conference play as they now look ahead to their regular season finale. Tech will host Rochester Christian University on senior day Saturday, October 24th at 4pm at Warrior Athletic Field.
