Softball Splits Series with Olivet Nazarene

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Tech softball split their final home series before their big spring break road trip to Arizona coming up, winning game one and falling in game two against Olivet Nazarene University.

In game one, Savannah Bravo took care of the Tigers, pitching a scoreless seven innings for the Warriors en route to a 4-0 Indiana Tech victory. The senior from Arroyo Grande, California allowed just three hits and no runs, while recording four strikeouts in 26 batters faced. Mikayla Cvitanovich put the Warriors on the board in the second inning with a bases loaded two-RBI single to centerfield, scoring Melissa Cabrera and Kiersten Delaney. Carlye Walter then hit a solo shot to left center in the third inning to make it 3-0 Tech. Cvitanovich would give the Warriors another insurance run in the sixth with a sacrifice fly bringing home Carly Basham from third.

In game two, the Tigers would get their revenge as the Warriors offense had no answer for Olivet Nazarene's pitching. Melissa Cabrera and Rhiannon McKay would be the only two to reach base for Tech in the game as the Warriors would fall 0-10 in five innings. Mallory Stinson went 2.2 innings on the mound, allowing four hits and five runs (two earned), while Mackenzie Arroyo went 2.1 innings with four strikeouts, allowing nine hits and five earned runs.

The Warriors now sit at 4-6 overall and will play on the road at Grace College in their next series on Wednesday, March 4th at 3pm.
