OWENSBORO, Ky. – The (RV) Indiana Tech men's volleyball team split their two matches on Saturday, sweeping Calumet College of St. Joseph 3-0 before falling to Saint Ambrose 3-2 in a reverse sweep.
Indiana Tech took a big lead early in set one against Calumet en route to a 25-15 first set victory. The Warriors were even more dominant in set two, taking the second set 25-10.
The third set was much more competitive as Indiana Tech led 21-20 late in the set. The Warriors would then score four of the final six points to win the set 25-22, securing the 3-0 sweep.
Owen Elliott led Indiana Tech with nine kills and seven digs.
Zeke Litchfield had eight kills and a team-high 4.0 blocks.
Nolan Bosley had 17 assists. The Warriors had 10 service aces: three from
Imraan Aung, three from
Ben Rosenow, two from
Shane Hemphill, and two from
Owen Elliott.
Indiana Tech jumped out to a 16-9 lead in set one against Saint Ambrose. The Warriors would go on to take the opening set 25-16.
The Warriors began the second set exactly as they did the first, taking a 16-9 lead. Indiana Tech would take a 2-0 lead after taking the second set 25-18.
The third set saw Saint Ambrose lead 19-11. Saint Ambrose would stay alive with a 25-16 third set win.
Set four saw the teams go back-and-forth as the teams found themselves tied at 16-16. Saint Ambrose used a 7-2 run to take a 23-18 lead and would go on to take the fourth set 25-20.
Indiana Tech led 11-8 in the fifth set, but Saint Ambrose used a 4-0 run to take a 12-11 lead. Indiana Tech responded with a 3-0 run to force match point at 14-12, but Saint Ambrose tied the set at 14-14.
Indiana Tech once again forced set point at 15-14, but three straight points gave Saint Ambrose a 17-15 fifth set win to complete the reverse sweep.
Dylan Poore led Indiana Tech with 14 kills.
Logan Gieseke added 11 kills and 4.0 blocks.
Jesse Biedenbach had 41 assists, and
Alex Rosenow had 16 digs.
Zack Karns led Indiana Tech with 8.0 blocks.
Indiana Tech moves to 3-3 on the year. The Warriors return to action on Tuesday for their home and conference opener against Defiance College. The game will be a Valentine's Red Out.
