CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Indiana Tech baseball team split a second doubleheader with Campbellsville, taking game one 9-5 before falling in game two 10-4.
Campbellsville took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second of game one. Indiana Tech scored two runs in the top of the fourth on back-to-back RBI singles by
Keelan Dunkle and
Noah McEldowney to make it 5-2.
Indiana Tech scored three runs on three straight errors in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 5-5.
Jorge Santana followed with an RBI single to put the Warriors ahead 6-5.
Noah McEldowney added a sacrifice fly to put Tech ahead 7-5, and an RBI single by
Derek Ruiz put the Warriors up 8-5.
A sacrifice fly by
Dane Richards in the sixth made it 9-5, which would go on to be the final score in the seven-inning contest.
Ben Morrison led Indiana Tech with three hits, finishing a home run shy of the cycle. Both
Noah McEldowney and
Dane Richards drove in two runs apiece.
Luke Myers got the start, throwing 1.2 innings.
Andrew VanOeveren threw 2.1 scoreless innings to pick up the win, and
Kail Baughman threw three scoreless innings to pick up the save.
Indiana Tech scored first in game two on a sacrifice fly by
Brycen Hannah in the top of the first. An RBI fielder's choice put the Warriors ahead 2-0.
Campbellsville tied the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the third, an RBI double by
Brycen Hannah put Indiana Tech back ahead 3-2. An RBI double by
Garrett Rainey made it 4-2.
Campbellsville tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth. The Tigers took a 5-4 lead in the fifth and broke the game open with five runs in the sixth. Campbellsville would go on to win 10-4 in seven innings.
Brycen Hannah and
Garrett Rainey each had two hits, including a double.
Dane Richards had the lone stolen base for Tech.
Ben Hammond got the start, allowing two runs in an inning of work.
Danny May followed with 2.2 innings out of the pen.
Dean Sommer took the loss, allowing a run in an inning of work.
Colton Leatherman threw an inning, and
Tad Dobek got an out in relief.
Tech moves to 6-4 on the year. The Warriors return to action on Friday against Georgetown College and Georgia Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
