Second Half Surge Lifts Warriors Past Knights

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #8 Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team picked up a massive win over #10 Marian University on Wednesday afternoon thanks to a big second half surge.

Marian jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead through the first 15 minutes of play. The Knights continued to control the game in the first half, going up 7-2 and leading 8-4 at halftime. However, the Warriors would start to turn the momentum in the second half, getting started with a 3-0 run in the third quarter to cut the deficit to one. In the fourth quarter with 11:25 to go, Jada Pope would bring the Warriors level for the first time since it was 1-1. Pope's goal was the second of a big 6-0 run for Tech to storm into the lead, going on to win it 14-11. Tech's defense allowed just two goals in the fourth quarter and outscored Marian 10-3 in the second half. Michelle Farrell led the Warriors in almost every stat category finishing with four goals, one assist, five points, seven draw controls, five ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Lilliana Rivera had a team high three assists, while also adding one goal, six draw controls, and four ground balls. Kat Hoff made eight saves and earned the win in goal for the Warriors.

The Warriors start conference play at 2-0 with two big wins over Lawrence Tech and Marian who ended last season in a three-way tie with Tech as WHAC Co-Champions. Overall, the Warriors are now 3-1 and will play Bethel University in their next game on Saturday, March 21st at 10am Mishawaka, Indiana.
