LIMA, OHIO - Indiana Tech Warriors softball hit the road to Lima for a conference matchup against University of Northwestern Ohio Racers softball, earning a split in a doubleheader that featured both dominance and a tight finish.
Indiana Tech came out strong in game one, controlling all aspects in a 10-0 shutout victory. Savannah Bravo was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game while striking out nine and allowing just five hits.
Offensively, the Warriors got things going early and never slowed down. Alyssa Harvey and Morgan Macek helped set the tone at the top of the lineup, while a three-run home run from Kiersten Delaney in the third inning broke the game open. Indiana Tech added five more runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by key hits from Lily Barringer and Mikayla Cvitanovich to secure the run-rule win.
Game two proved to be a much tighter battle. The Warriors struck first, taking advantage of a defensive miscue before adding another run on a sacrifice fly from Harvey. However, a three-run home run by Northwestern Ohio in the third inning shifted momentum.
Indiana Tech managed just three hits in the contest, with Carlye Walter leading the way offensively. Despite a strong outing in the circle from Mallory Stinson, the Warriors were unable to recover, falling 3-2.
The split really reflects how dangerous Indiana Tech can be when everything is clicking, while also emphasizing just how important timely hitting becomes in tight conference games as the season progresses.
They'll look to carry that momentum into this weekend, with matchups against Cornerstone Golden Eagles softball on Saturday and Aquinas Saints softball on Sunday.
