LIVONIA, Ind. – The #7 Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team moved up one spot this morning in the third edition of the NAIA top ten poll and followed that up with their biggest offensive and defensive performance of the season, defeating Madonna University 19-3.
Tech made quick work of their opponents, dominating from the opening seconds and defeating the Crusaders in just an hour and 43 minutes.
Lilliana Rivera scored just 15 seconds into the game on an assist from
Jada Pope to start the avalanche of first quarter goals for the Warriors. A few minutes later
Michelle Farrell and
Lauren Hainlin scored just 17 seconds apart to make it 3-0.
Kylie King would then score a pair of goals under a minute apart midway through the period, before Farrell closed the period with two more goals to complete a first quarter hattrick and put the Warriors ahead 7-0 after 15 minutes. In the second quarter, Rivera scored two goals and King added one as they both joined Farrell with first half hattricks.
Brook Maul and
Jessica Leigh also scored in the quarter to give the Warriors a 12-1 lead at halftime. Tech would cool off a bit in the second half, but still managed to score seven more goals, while allowing just two over the final 30 minutes of action. Farrell led the Warriors with five points in the game, while Rivera, Leigh, Pope, and Maul all had four. Rivered finished with a team high eight draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
Kat Hoff made six saves in goal on her way to win #5 this season.
The Warriors improve to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play. They will take on the Aquinas College Saints in their next matchup on Saturday, March 28
th at 1pm in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
