FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team split a doubleheader with Madonna on Saturday, taking game one 12-0 in seven innings before falling 6-3 in game two.
Indiana Tech took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game one on an RBI double by
Jack Ferguson. Another run came around to score on an error to make it 2-0.
A sacrifice fly by
Quinn Seefeldt in the second made it 3-0. A two-RBI single by
Garrett Rainey made it 5-0 Indiana Tech.
A two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth by
Ben Morrison made it 7-0.
Garrett Rainey scored on a wild pitch to make it 8-0, and a two-run home run by
Brycen Hannah put Indiana Tech ahead 10-0.
An RBI single by
Ben Morrison in the fifth made it 11-0. A sacrifice fly by
Garrett Rainey gave Indiana Tech a 12-0 lead, which would be the final score in seven innings.
Ben Morrison led Indiana Tech with three hits and three RBI.
Garrett Rainey also had three RBI.
Jack Ferguson,
Levi Laymon, and
Keelan Dunkle doubled, and
Ben Morrison and
Brycen Hannah each homered.
Noah Redmon got the start and the win, throwing a seven-inning complete game shutout with seven strikeouts.
Indiana Tech took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game two on a wild pitch.
Madonna scored four runs in the top of the third to take a 4-1 lead. They added two runs in the sixth to extend their lead to 6-1.
Dane Richards connected on a solo home run in the eighth to cut the lead to 6-2. An RBI groundout by
Ben Hammond in the ninth made it 6-3, but Madonna would secure the 6-3 win.
Indiana Tech only had three hits in the contest.
Jack Ferguson doubled, and
Dane Richards homered.
Austin Byford got the start and took the loss, allowing three earned runs in three innings.
Kaden Plank allowed two runs in three innings, and
Danny May followed with three scoreless innings in relief.
Indiana Tech moves to 16-11 on the year and 6-4 in WHAC play. Indiana Tech hosts Madonna for another doubleheader on Sunday.
