Indiana Tech Bats Stay Hot in Tucson Sweep

​​TUCSON, Ariz. – Indiana Tech softball continued its play in Tucson on Monday, earning a pair of wins with a 13–4 victory over William Penn (IA) followed by a 3–2 win against Viterbo.

In the opening game, the Warriors broke things open late with an explosive offensive performance, collecting 14 hits and 13 runs. Indiana Tech jumped ahead in the third inning when Mikayla Cvitanovich and Alyssa Fox sparked the offense, leading to RBI hits from Morgan Macek and Haylee Pruitt to give the Warriors a 3–0 lead.

Indiana Tech added two more runs in the fifth as Macek delivered an RBI single and Carlye Walter followed with another RBI hit to extend the advantage to 5–0.

After William Penn closed the gap in the bottom of the fifth, the Warriors responded with a massive eight-run seventh inning. Macek delivered a two-RBI double before Walter launched a three-run home run to break the game wide open. Cvitanovich later added a two-RBI single and Macek capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

Macek led the offense, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBIs, while Walter finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs, including the home run. Cvitanovich added two hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs, and Fox scored twice and swiped a base.

In the circle, Mallory Stinson earned the win after pitching 6.1 innings with seven strikeouts, while Mackenzie Arroyo closed out the final outs.

The Warriors carried that momentum into game two against Viterbo, where strong pitching and timely hitting secured a 3–2 victory.

Indiana Tech struck first in the opening inning when Walter doubled and drove in Avery Kidwell. The Warriors added two more runs in the second as Allie Dolenc delivered a two-RBI single, scoring Carly Basham and Cvitanovich to make it 3–0.

Viterbo pushed across two runs in the seventh to tighten the game, but Walter remained composed in the circle, finishing the complete-game performance to secure the win.

Walter was dominant, allowing just five hits and two runs across seven innings while earning the victory. At the plate, Dolenc recorded two hits and two RBIs, while Walter also collected two hits and an RBI. Basham and Cvitanovich each scored a run in the win.

With the sweep, Indiana Tech continued its strong showing in Tucson. And will continue play on Wednesday the 11th against Dickinson State and Carroll College.
