FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team swept Siena Heights in a doubleheader on Sunday, taking game one 19-5 in seven innings and game two 13-2 in seven innings.
Indiana Tech took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first of game one on a three-run home run by
Jack Ferguson.
Brycen Hannah followed with a solo home run to make it 4-0. An RBI single by
Dane Richards made it 5-0.
A solo home run by
Garrett Rainey in the second made it 6-0. An RBI double by
Ben Morrison put Tech ahead 7-0. A run came around to score on a balk to make it 8-0.
Siena Heights scored four runs in the third to make it 8-4.
An RBI single by
Derek Ruiz in the third made it 9-4.
Jack Ferguson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to put Tech ahead 10-4. A two-RBI double by
Brycen Hannah made it 12-4. A bases loaded walk to
Ben Hammond extended the lead to 13-4. Three runs scored on three straight wild pitches to make it 16-4. An RBI single by
Derek Ruiz made it 17-4.
Siena Heights scored a run in the fourth to make it 17-5. Indiana Tech responded with two runs in the sixth to make it 19-5, which would be the final score.
Derek Ruiz and
Brycen Hannah led Indiana Tech with three hits apiece.
Jack Ferguson had a team-high four RBI. Indiana Tech had six extra base hits in the win: three doubles and three home runs.
Luke Myers got the start and the win, allowing two earned runs in three innings.
Danny May allowed one run in two innings.
Kade Robinson closed out the game with two scoreless innings, striking out five.
Indiana Tech took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game two on an RBI double by
Jack Ferguson. A bases loaded walk to
Ben Morrison made it 2-0, and a two-RBI double by
Quinn Seefeldt put Tech ahead 4-0.
A two-RBI single by
Ben Morrison in the fourth extended the Tech lead to 6-0.
A two-RBI single by
Derek Ruiz in the fifth made it 8-0. A sacrifice fly by
Garrett Rainey put Tech ahead 9-0, and a three-run home run by
Brycen Hannah made it 12-0. Another run came around to score on a wild pitch to make it 13-0.
Indiana Tech would go on to win 13-2 in seven innings.
Jorge Santana led Indiana Tech with three hits.
Brycen Hannah and
Ben Morrison both drove in three runs apiece. Indiana Tech had five extra base hits: four doubles and a home run.
Ben Hammond got the start and the win, allowing two runs in 5.1 innings while striking out five.
Colton Leatherman closed the game with 1.2 scoreless innings.
Indiana Tech moves to 26-13 overall and 16-4 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Tuesday against IU South Bend at Parkview Field.
