FORT WAYNE, Ind. –
Kail Baughman provided eight shutout innings as No. 22 Indiana Tech defeated IU South Bend 6-0 at Parkview Field in the PSM Baseball Classic.
An RBI single by
Brycen Hannah in the bottom of the first to give Indiana Tech a 1-0 lead.
A double steal in the bottom of the third brought home another run to put Indiana Tech ahead 2-0. A wild pitch in the fourth put Tech ahead 3-0.
Two runs came around to score on an error in the sixth to put the Warriors ahead 5-0. An RBI groundout by
Quinn Seefeldt gave Tech a 6-0 lead, which would go on to be the final score.
Jorge Santana led Indiana Tech with two hits.
Ben Morrison and
Levi Laymon both doubled, and Santana and
Derek Ruiz both stole a base.
Kail Baughman was sensational, beginning the game with 5.2 hitless innings. His final line: 8.0 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 5 strikeouts.
Colton Leatherman threw a scoreless ninth to close the game.
Indiana Tech moves to 27-13 overall. The Warriors return to action on Saturday for a doubleheader against Defiance.
