Women’s Lacrosse Cruises to Senior Day Win over Madonna

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #6 Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team held their senior day on Saturday afternoon against Madonna University. The Warriors would cruise past the visitors 21-2 for their biggest margin of victory of the season. Tech would honor its five seniors at halftime of the contest, recognizing Lexi Gallini, Gabby Hitchcock, Emma Kinder, Brook Maul, and Jada Pope for their contributions in the Orange & Black over the years.
 
Both teams would score in the first two minutes of the game, but then the Warriors scored ten straight to build an 11-1 lead in the second quarter. Madonna would score a second goal, but Tech would lead 14-2 at halftime. In the second half, the Warriors would completely shut down the Crusaders offense, keeping a shutout for the entire 30 minutes. The Warriors would tack on seven more goals in the half to give them 21 on the day. Senior Jada Pope would lead the Warriors with seven points, scoring three goals and adding four assists, in addition to three ground balls and one caused turnover. Michelle Farrell led the Warriors in goals (5), draw controls (10), ground balls (5), and caused turnovers (2) as she continues to provide all-around performances for Tech. Senior defenders Lexi Gallini and Gabby Hitchcock each scored one goal in the contest. Gallini also led the Warriors in ground balls with five and had one caused turnover and one ground ball. Hitchcock and senior Emma Kinder each recorded one ground ball. Senior attacker Brook Maul contributed offensively with four assists and two ground balls. Kat Hoff made six saves in goal and had one ground ball in the win.
 
The Warriors improve to 9-4 on the season and are now 7-2 in WHAC play. Tech will earn a win by forfeit in their mid-week contest against Aquinas College to close out the regular season with a 10-4 overall record and 8-2 WHAC record. The Warriors will now prepare for the conference tournament where they are currently sitting as the two seed. The WHAC Tournament is set to take place between Tuesday, April 28th and Saturday, May 2nd.
