Men’s Lacrosse Crushes No. 3 Aquinas to Advance to WHAC Championship

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The #5 ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team continued WHAC Tournament action on Thursday afternoon with a semifinal matchup with #3 ranked Aquinas College. The Warriors entered the tournament as the #3 seed and defeated #6 seed Lawrence Tech at home in the first round on Tuesday, while the Saints had a bye as the #2 seed in the tournament.

The Warriors came into the game with revenge on their mind after losing both regular season matchups to the Saints in close fashion, with the most recent one coming just five days ago in Grand Rapids. Tech would return today and get out to a 5-4 lead through one quarter of play. After Aquinas tied the game at six, Tech ended the second quarter on a 3-0 run to take the lead into halftime. They would then score the first two and four of the first five in the second half to build the lead to six. The Warriors would pull away big time in the fourth quarter with a big 7-2 advantage as they completed their revenge tour in Grand Rapids to advance to the WHAC Tournament Championship game. Cam Fewster led the Warriors with six points, scoring four goals and adding two assists, while Ryan Morgan (3G, 2A) and Jake Deacon (4G, 1A) each had five points. Deacon also led Tech with three caused turnovers and had four ground balls, while Zach Spisz had eight ground balls and was 20/29 on faceoffs in the game. Sam Park made seven saves and had two ground balls in goal, earning the win.

The Warriors improve their overall record to 12-7 this season and will face #1 seed and #1 ranked Madonna University in the WHAC Tournament Championship game on Saturday, May 2nd in Livonia, Michigan.
