Women’s Lacrosse Falls in WHAC Tournament Semifinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 8 Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team hosted No. 10 Lawrence Tech University in the WHAC Tournament semifinals on Thursday evening. Before the contest began, the two sides would recognize their WHAC all-conference honorees with 15 Warriors hearing their name called at least once.

In the game, the first quarter was full of momentum swings as LTU started out with a 2-0 lead, before Indiana Tech's Liliana Rivera got them on the board. Lawrence Tech would add a third and then the Warriors would score five straight goals in just over five minutes to take a 6-3 lead. The Blue Devils got one back before the end of the quarter, making it a two-goal game at the quarter break. The second and third quarters are where Lawrence Tech gained control, outscoring Tech 12-0 to take a commanding 15-6 lead. The Warriors would equal the Blue Devils tally in the fourth quarter with two goals each but the deficit was too great for a comeback as the Warriors fell by a final of 8-18 in the WHAC Tournament semifinals. Rivera led Tech with five points on two goals and three assists, while Jessica Leigh had a good game for the Warriors with two goals and two assists, and led Tech with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Michelle Farrell had six draw controls and two goals for the Orange & Black. Kat Hoff made 14 saves in a stellar effort in the cage, also picking up one ground ball and causing one turnover.

With the loss, the Warriors are now 10-5 overall and will have to wait for the NAIA National Tournament selection show to find out if they can get into the dance with an at-large bid. The selection show is set for Monday, May 4th at 4pm (CT).
