WIXOM, Mich. – The Indiana Tech baseball team swept UM-Dearborn in a doubleheader on Monday, taking game one 16-2 in seven innings and game two 20-0 in seven innings.
Indiana Tech scored first in game one.
Brycen Hannah scored on a wild pitch and
Keelan Dunkle scored on a throwing error to give Indiana Tech a 2-0 lead.
Garrett Rainey delivered a two-RBI single to put Tech ahead 4-0.
A bases loaded walk to
Derek Ruiz in the third extended the lead to 5-0. An RBI fielder's choice by
Garrett Rainey made it 6-0, and a two-RBI single by
Jack Ferguson put Tech ahead 8-0.
A solo home run by
Garrett Rainey to lead off the fifth made it 9-0 Tech. A sacrifice fly by
Dane Richards extended the lead to 10-0. A bases loaded walk to
Jorge Santana made it 11-0, and a two-RBI single by
Derek Ruiz extended the lead to 13-0.
UM-Dearborn scored two runs in the fifth to make it 13-2.
Two runs came around to score on a throwing error in the sixth to put Tech ahead 15-2. An RBI single by
Keelan Dunkle made it 16-2, which would go on to be the final score in seven innings.
Brycen Hannah led Tech with three hits.
Garrett Rainey had a team-high four RBI.
Luke Myers got the start and the win, allowing two runs in five innings while striking out five.
Ricky Bennett threw two scoreless innings out of the pen, striking out four.
Indiana Tech took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first of game two on a double steal. A two-run home run by
Jack Ferguson put Tech ahead 3-0.
Another two-run home run by
Jack Ferguson in the third put Tech ahead 5-0. An RBI single by
Keelan Dunkle made it 6-0.
A solo home run by
Garrett Rainey to lead off the top of the fourth extended the Indiana Tech lead to 7-0.
A run came around to score on an error in the fifth to make it 8-0 Tech. Indiana Tech took a 9-0 lead on a wild pitch. An RBI single by
Jorge Santana made it 10-0, and another run came around to score on an error to make it 11-0.
Jack Ferguson connected on a three-run home run, his third of the game, to put Tech ahead 14-0. A bases loaded walk to
Keelan Dunkle made it 15-0, and an RBI fielder's choice by
Jorge Santana made it 16-0.
In the top of the seventh, a bases loaded walk to
Keegan Miller made it 17-0.
Carlos Lopez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 18-0. An RBI groundout by
Logan Rybarczyk put Tech ahead 19-0, and an RBI single by
Ben Hammond gave Tech a 20-0 lead, which would be the final score.
Jack Ferguson led Indiana Tech with three hits, all home runs, and seven RBI.
Ben Hammond got the start and the win, throwing four scoreless innings.
Danny May picked up the save, throwing three scoreless innings while striking out six.
Indiana Tech moves to 22-11 overall and 12-4 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Tuesday at Indiana Wesleyan.
