MOBILE, Ala. – The Indiana Tech softball team was back in action for day three of the NAIA Opening round on Thursday as three teams remained to start the day, including #1 seed Mobile and #2 seed Eastern Oregon. The Warriors and Rams of Mobile would face off in the elimination game with the winner moving on to battle Eastern Oregon for the pod championship and trip to the final site on the line.
Prior to today, Tech opened the national tournament with a 5-0 win over #5 seed Truett McConnell on Monday afternoon in a strong showing from both the offensive and defensive sides. Later that evening, Tech would fall 0-8 to #1 seed Mobile to drop into the loser's bracket. On Tuesday, all three games would be moved to Wednesday due to weather and field conditions, where the Warriors would then take out #3 seed Campbellsville 3-1, setting up a rematch with #1 seed Mobile on Thursday.
The Warriors would make some good defensive adjustments the second time around, not allowing Mobile to get much going offensively like they did in the first matchup. However, the Warrior bats also continued to struggle in a big pitching battle between the two aces. The Rams would score two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run homer, which would be the only runs of the game for either side as the hosts, Mobile, squeaked out a narrow 2-0 victory over Tech. Alyssa Fox, Haylee Pruitt, and Alyssa Harvey would record the three Warrior hits in the game, while Fox and Pruitt also each drew a walk in the game. Savannah Bravo would pitch 6.0 innings in the circle, allowing five hits and two runs, and adding two more strikeouts to her Indiana Tech all-time record number, finishing her career with an unbelievable 613!
The Warriors close the season with a 35-18 record with appearances in the WHAC Championship game and the NAIA Opening Round. Tech finished conference play as runners-up with a 14-6 record.
