HONOLULU, HAWAII – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team split a pair of matches in Hawaii to open their 2026 season, falling to No. 6 Providence in four sets before sweeping Doane to close out day 1 of the Paradise Volleyball Classic.
The first set was back and forth and saw Indiana Tech lead early, but a 10-2 charge put Providence ahead 13-8. UP built a six-point lead, and despite a late rally by Indiana Tech, took the first set 25-21.
The second set saw the teams trade points back-and-forth as the teams remained tied at 13-13. Indiana Tech scored back-to-back points to take a 15-13 lead. UP came back to tie the set up at 16-16, but a kill by
Lauren Paska and two aces by
Keira Hans put Tech ahead 19-16. Indiana Tech would take the second set 25-19.
UP led 6-3 early in set three, but an 8-2 run by Indiana Tech put the Warriors ahead 11-8. Tech extended their lead to four at 14-10, but UP cut the lead to one at 14-13. Tech extended their lead back to three at 19-16, but UP once again cut the lead to one at 19-18. Indiana Tech led 23-22, but UP scored three straight points to take the third set 25-23.
Indiana Tech led 13-10 in set four, but an 8-0 run put UP ahead 18-13. UP would go on to take the fourth set 25-15 and the match 3-1.
Lauren Snyder led Tech with 11 kills, and
Lauren Paska added 10.
Hannah Teich led the Warriors with 4.0 blocks and a pair of aces.
Kristin Matlack had 39 assists, and
Emiline Wood led with 15 digs.
Keira Hans also added a pair of aces.
In set one against Doane, Indiana Tech used a 9-1 run to take a 16-6 lead. With a 16-10 lead, Tech used a 6-1 run to extend their lead to 22-11. Indiana Tech would take set one 25-15.
Indiana Tech used a 14-2 run to open the second set, a run which included a trio of aces. The Warriors kept their foot on the gas and would go on to cruise to a 25-11 second set victory.
The Warriors took a 10-4 lead to open the third set. The Warriors then extended their lead to 16-8, bookended by a pair of kills by
Hannah Teich. Doane cut the lead to three at 18-15 but kills by
Lauren Paska and
Hannah Teich put the Warriors ahead 20-15. Tech closed the set on a 4-0 run to take the final set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
Lauren Paska led Indiana Tech with eight kills, and
Hannah Teich added seven.
Olivia Kracium and
Katelynn Toft each had 3.0 blocks to lead the team.
Kristin Matlack had 24 assists, and both
Emiline Wood and
Keira Hans had six digs. Hans also led the team with four aces. Indiana Tech had 12 aces as a team.
Tech now stands at 1-1 on the year. The Warriors close their Hawaii trip with a contest against No. 12 Oklahoma Wesleyan at 9:30 PM ET / 3:30 PM HT on Saturday.
