Warriors Open Season with Top 15 Win at Bethel

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The #6 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team opened their season on Thursday night with a top 15 showdown on the road against #13 ranked Bethel University, where the Warriors would come away with a 2-0 victory.

The Warriors and Pilots are no strangers to one another, playing against each other in each of the last four seasons, including two times at the NAIA National Tournament. Last season, Tech defeated Bethel 1-0 in the round of 16 at the national tournament, ending the Pilots season, creating a little extra motivation heading into today's matchup.

In the season opener under the lights, Tech would open the scoring with a goal in the 25th minute by senior transfer Federico Confaloni. Freshman keeper Alan Fleischer made three first half saves in goal to keep the Warriors ahead 1-0 at the break. In the second half, junior transfer Robin Vezinhet added an insurance goal for the Warriors in the 85th minute on a quick counterattack to put the game to bed and dash the Pilots chances at a result. Despite being outshot in the match, the Warriors would prevail with efficiency, scoring on two of their three shots. Fleischer would finish the game with four saves and earn the shutout win in his Warrior debut.

The Warriors start the year at 1-0 and will host Dalton State College (Ga.) on Saturday, August 22nd at 4pm in their home opener at Warrior Athletic Field on the new turf.
