Josh Riikonen joined the Indiana Tech men's basketball program as an assistant coach in the summer of 2020 following a three-year stint with regional foe Huntington University where he served under Ty Platt. Riikonen has several years of high school coaching experience with stops at Huntington North, Jay County and East Noble in addition to working with Indy Heat. Originally from Elkhart, Indiana, Riikonen was a four-year letter winner at Taylor University where he accumulated over 800 points and 600 rebounds for the Trojans. He graduated from Taylor in 2014 with a degree in Social Studies Education and is currently pursuing his master's degree in Educational Leadership from Ball State University while teaching AP Psychology at Huntington North High School.
