Erika Warren

Erika Warren joined the Indiana Tech Softball program as an assistant coach for Stephanie Zimny in the fall of 2016. Warren's main responsibilities include: working with Tech's catchers, coordinating team travel, maintaining the team's budget, preparing and executing practice plans, collaborating on hitting approaches and defensive game plans and is the head coach of the reserve team. 

Originally from North Canton, Ohio, she graduated from Kent State University this past spring, where she was a four-year starting catcher for the Golden Flashes. During her four-year playing career, Warren started 168 games with a career .990 fielding percentage. She was responsible for calling pitches for games which included managing/catching a pitching staff in 2015 with a team ERA of 1.55. While at Kent State, the Flashes won back-to-back MAC championships (2015, 2016) and a MAC East Division title in 2014. Warren was named an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete and All-Academic MAC in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and garnered Honorable-Mention All-MAC honors as a senior.

Warren both played for, and coached with, the Beverly Bandits. As the Bandits 18 HS coach for the past four years, with her primary responsibilities involving pitchers and catchers, her Bandits team won the Boulder Independence Day Tournament and have had three top-five finishes at the PGF 18 HS Nationals and a seventh-place finish in 2016. Warren has coached several NCAA Division I collegiate players during her tenure with the Bandits. As a player, Warren caught two years for the Bandits, where she called her own games and helped the Bandits to a Boulder Independence Day Tournament Championship along with third and fifth place finishes in the PGF 18 HS National Championships.

Erika played her high school softball at North Canton Hoover High School where she helped lead the Vikings to back-to-back Division 1 Ohio State Championships in 2011 and 2012. She was twice named Federal League Player of the Year receiving the award in both 2011 and 2012 also receiving All-State honors in 2012.

Coach Warren has been giving private and group instruction since 2011. She is the head of Strike Zones (Fort Wayne facility) Athlete’s in Motion girls softball program (AIM) where she instructs young female softball players from ages 8-16.
