Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Rontray Chavis' fourth double-double of the season paced the Indiana Tech men's basketball team to a 61-47 victory over Lawrence Tech on Saturday, snapping a season-long four-game losing streak.

Back-to-back jumpers by Antwan Cathey got the Warriors (12-8, 7-5) off to a fast start, but a 16-2 run by the Blue Devils (4-16, 2-10) gave the visitors a 10-point, 16-6, lead with 13:08 to play in the opening half. A Tanner Watkins three ended the run and the two teams traded baskets until a Jeff Hoskins jumper at the 10:40 mark cut the LTU lead to seven, 21-14, sparking an 11-3 run by the Warriors to give the home team a one-point, 25-22 lead that they would not relinquish. The Orange and Black score six of the final eight points in the half to take a 31-26 lead into the break.

Indiana Tech did much of their damage inside, scoring 14 points in the paint to just two for LTU, and also held a 7-3 margin in second-chance points. Chavis' seven points off the bench helped the Warriors to a 13-2 advantage in bench points.

A Brad Watterworth three opened the second half, but John Cooksey and Chavis made back-to-back jumpers to keep the Warriors lead at six, 34-28. The two teams traded hoops for the next eight minutes until a Chavis alley-hoop at the 5:55 mark, with an assist from Nick Lewis, stretch the lead to 10, 47-37 and gave the Warriors all the momentum. A Watkins three and a layup from Chavis increased the lead to a game-high 16 points, and another highlight dunk by Chavis kept the lead at 15 with 1:07 to play. Some late baskets by Watterworth cut the lead to 14 at the buzzer, 61-47.

The Warriors outscored the Blue Devils 30-16 in the paint, 10-8 in second-chance points and 29-2 in bench production. The home team finished the contest 23-for-51 (45.1%) from the field, 3-for-10 (30%) from three and 12-for-15 (80%) from the free throw line. The defense limited the Blue Devils to just 30.4 percent (17-for-56) shooting including a 30.4 percent (7-for-23) mark from behind the arc while LTU went 6-for-7 (80%) from the charity stripe.

Chavis finished with a game-high 19 points and 17 rebounds while Hoskins added 13 points, Watkins finished with 11 and Lewis tallied 10. Jake Mullin led the Blue Devils with 12 points.

The Warriors return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 22 when they host Michigan-Dearborn at 7:30 p.m.
