Missed Chances Doom @INTechWSoccer in 4-1 Loss

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team got off to a great start, but missed a few opportunities in a 4-1 loss to Cornerstone at Warrior Athletic Field on Wednesday night. The loss drops Tech to 6-4 overall and 0-2 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while Cornerstone move to 6-1-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference action.

Tori Singstock started things off with a bang for the Warriors as the junior forward dribbled the ball 40 yards, through two defenders before beating the keeper in a 1-v-1 situation for the first marker of the game in the 10th minute.

After a few missed chances by the Warriors, Cornerstone countered and a cross into the box was knocked in to tie the score at 38:05. Two minutes late, in the 40th minute, the Golden Eagles took the lead after a defensive breakdown by Tech.

After the break, Tech again had several chances to score, but couldn't find the net. A pair of Cornerstone goals in the 49th and 51st minute sealed the victory for the visitors. Both teams attempted 16 shots, with Tech holding a 13-7 advantage in the second half, but the Golden Eagles put eight shots on target compared to just four for Tech.

The Warriors will look to capture their first WHAC win on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they host No. 20 Siena Heights at 3 p.m.
