Singstock Leads @INTechWSoccer to 4-1 Win on Senior Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Despite miserable field conditions, the Indiana Tech women's soccer team registered their first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win, defeating Lawrence Tech 4-1 at the Warrior Athletic Field on Saturday night.

It was senior day for the Warriors (6-7, 1-5 WHAC) and despite playing on a terrible playing surface, Tech tallied two goals each half, playing with energy and determination not seen yet this season.

Tori Singstock got the scoring started with a breakaway goal in the 27th minute. The junior forward dribbled through several defenders before beating the keeper for the 1-0 lead. Tech dominated the possession for most of the game and just 12 minutes later, Singstock connected with sophomore Jessica Zurcher for a 2-0 lead. Singstock sent a beautiful cross into the box, finding the boot of Zurcher who pounded the ball into the back of the net.

The Blue Devils (5-8-2, 0-5-1) missed a penalty kick early in the second half, but in the 50th minute, finally got on the board, cutting the lead in half at 2-1. The Warriors didn't let up though, maintaining constant pressure on the LTU defense and in the 60th minute, freshman Miranda Smith was in the right place at the right time, knocking home a rebound off the post for the 3-1 lead.

Singstock bookended the scoring in the 79th minute with her 12th marker of the season. Megan Perrey sent a cross into the box and Singstock used her right foot to volley the ball over the keeper for the final tally and a 4-1 win.

The Orange and Black outshot the Blue Devils 26-10 in the contest with a 17-6 advantage in the second half. The Warriors put 12 shots on goal to just six for LTU while also holding a 4-2 margin in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper, Bre Wojnarowski tallied three saves in 90 minutes while Singstock led the offense with 12 shots, six on goal, connecting on two while also adding an assist. Glaysher finished with four shots, three on frame while three other Warriors registered at least two shots.

The Warriors look for back-to-back wins for the first time since Sept. 20-23 when they host Rochester College at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19.
