@INTECHICE_D1 Program Produces Power-Play Punch in Progressing

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I hockey team has garnered three points in its opening three weeks of play, but more importantly is the progress the team has shown during that stretch as it enters this weekend on a bye.

The team's offense production has doubled since the first week and has shown steady improvement. After averaging 2.5 offensive goals after week one's pair of games, the club improved to a 3.5 average goal production after the second week. Last weekend, the squad averaged five goals per game and doubled its output overall from weekend one.

"I think our team started with a pretty steep learning curve," said head coach Frank DiCristofaro.

"But I also think that we have been steadily making adjustments and the improvements are self-evident.

Team-wise, the power play is clicking. The team has registered at least one power-play goal in each of its six games and a pair of power-play markers in four of its six games with 10 total on the season.

"Our power play has been solid, but we will need special teams as a whole to be on point, if we expect to be competitive night-in and night-out," added DiCristofaro.

Cameron Dimmitt and Vaughn Clouston lead the team with a pair of power-play markers, with the latter registering his first two goals of the season last weekend- both via the power play.

Even more impressive last weekend was when the team produced its lowest power-play total (one), but still pulled out the win with five even-strength tallies on its way to a 6-4 win in Rochester, Mich. against Oakland University.

The team's defensive production has also shown some promising results. The Orange and Black reduced its goals-allowed total by 2.5 from week one to week two, and then cut that deficit by another goal last weekend.

Individually, Dimmit has been the team's most consistent performer with the team's best current goal- and point-streaks. Dimmit is on a five-game point streak- registering points in all the games except the season opener, and a three-game goal streak.

Jake Henrikson has the next best points streak at three; followed by Jarrett Pfeiffer, Clouston and Henrikson with two-game point streaks. Both Clouston and Henrikson are also on two-game goal streaks.

The Tech Division I squad will next play one week from today, Thursday, Oct. 9 at Dordt College with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop scheduled.
