FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team couldn't overcome an early deficit in a 3-1 loss to Aquinas at Warrior Athletic Field on Saturday night.
The Warriors (6-7-1, 3-5 WHAC) continued to struggle against a tough Saints (9-6-1, 3-4-1 WHAC) team that owns a 8-2-1 record in the series since 2007, with Tech's last win against Aquinas in Fort Wayne coming on Sept. 26, 2009.
The visitors got three markers in the first half in the sixth, 27th and 41st minutes before packing the defensive third in the second half.
Tech was able to break through in the 88th minute when
Padraic Ormsby took a free kick and ripped it in the upper 90 from 25 yards out to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Warriors attempted four shots in the contest, putting two on frame while the Saints took 18 shots, putting 11 on target. Freshman goalkeeper,
Adam Viviano, made seven saves in 90 minutes of play for the Warriors while four players attempted shots and two put one on frame.
The Warriors look to win back the Fort Wayne Cup when they return to the pitch on Monday, Oct. 27 when they travel across town to the University of St. Francis (Ind.) with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
