Box Score KENT, Ohio – The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 Ice Hockey team came from behind to take the lead after the first period and held on to be within a goal heading into the final period before falling 5-2 to Kent State University Friday at KSU Ice Arena.

The Golden Flashes, who received votes in the national poll this month, went ahead midway through the opening period, but the Warriors responded 65 seconds later with an unassisted tally from Jarrett Pfeiffer.

In the span of 60 seconds, Tech produced a golden flash of its own when Connor Roche potted a goal from Matt Walton for the 2-1 lead. It was one of the best opening periods of the season for the Warriors as they not only came from behind to take the lead, but did it without the benefit of a power play and despite being whistled for a pair of infractions. Roche's goal chased Kent State's starting goaltender.

After the Orange and Black's pair, the Golden Flashes responded with a pair of their own as both teams headed to the third period with just one score separating the teams. The next goal was crucial and it went in favor of KSU, who would add an empty-netter in the final seconds to cap the scoring.

The Warriors couldn't find a way to contain Chance Taylor, who was in on every Kent State goal. Taylor finished the night with a hat trick and a pair of helpers.

Zach Larson faced 36 shots in the Indiana Tech net, while the Orange and Black peppered both of Kent State's goaltenders with a combined 27 shots.

The Division 1 team is set for a rematch against Kent State Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the KSU Ice Arena.
