Box Score DEARBORN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 Ice Hockey team took to the road for a post-Thanksgiving tournament in Dearborn, Mich. In its first of three weekend contests, the Orange and Black rallied to tie Eastern Michigan University before finding themselves on the short end of a 5-2 game.
"We had opportunities to come back in the third but we didn't capitalize. Give them credit, they were able to capitalize on their opportunities," said head coach
Frank DiCristofaro.
Indiana Tech out-shot Eastern Michigan, 35-34 for the game.
The Warriors spotted the Eagles a two-goal first-period lead before rallying back with a pair of goals of their own- spanning a 10-minute frame between the end of the first and beginning of the second periods.
Matt Walton got Tech on the board to cut the deficit within a goal with an assist from
Connor Roche with about four minutes left in the opening period.
Nathan Nelson tied the game at 2 apiece about five minutes into the middle stanza.
Jarrett Pfeiffer and
Jake Henrikson earned assists on Nelson's goal.
Indiana Tech goaltender
Zach Larson made 29 saves on 34 shots.
Tech will take on Western Michigan University Saturday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. in the second of the three-game Great Lakes Showcase with the third opponent and time determined by Saturday's results.
