@INTECHICE_D1 Sends Broncos Bucking With 4-2 Win

Box Score DEARBORN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 Ice Hockey team took to the road for a post-Thanksgiving tournament in Dearborn, Mich. In its second of three weekend contests, the Orange and Black defeated Western Michigan University Saturday, 4-2.

"We came out with better energy and I was proud with the way we battled today. WMU is a solid team in the GLCHL and a team we will see quite often over the next couple of years," said head coach Frank DiCristofaro.

After a scoreless first period, the Warriors came out strong in the second period with a pair of goals and never looked back.

Coach DiCristofaro needed some scoring depth for the weekend excursion and summoned one forward from the Indiana Tech ACHA D3 team which proved to be a key decision.

Ryan Theisen tallied the team's first goal midway through the second period. Cameron Dimmitt and Jarrett Pfeiffer earned assists on Theisen's first goal at the D1-level. Ian Maisonneuve then added to the Warriors' lead with a power-play tally with less than five minutes left in the second. Vaughn Clouston and Alex Gregorich were credited with assists.

The Broncos tried to make a game of it by cutting the Tech lead to just a goal about three minutes into the second period, but Clouston registered a short-handed game-winning tally midway through the period with his second point of the contest.

WMU crawled back a second time to within a goal, but Dimmitt sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the game's final minute. Both Dimmitt and Clouston had multi-point performances in the win. The Broncos have been ranked as high as No. 18 this season.

Indiana Tech goaltender Matt Hughes may have been the difference with a 36-save performance, while the Orange and Black totaled 27 shots.

Tech will take on Michigan State University  Sunday with a 1 p.m. puck drop to conclude the Grat Lakes Invitational.
