FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The cold weather and feet of snow didn't stop the Indiana Tech women's tennis team from opening its spring season on Friday as the Warriors fell to Cardinal Stritch, 9-0 at the Wildwood Racquet Club.

Despite the loss there were several positives for the Warriors (1-3) in their first match of the spring. In doubles competition, the number two pair of Raquel Manzoni and Barbara Oliveria fought hard, but couldn't close the deal against Natalie Grieve and Jitsupa Sirinit, falling 9-7 to give the Wolves (9-2) a 3-0 lead heading into singles action.

Every singles player won at least one point for the Orange and Black with several tight matches deciding the contest. Despite losing 6-1, 6-2, Manzoni played well against Alexi Loomis at No.1 singles, playing one of the longest matches on the day. At No. 2 singles, Ana Hernandez had the closest match of the contest, falling to Amanda Timm 6-2, 6-4.

The Warriors return to the court on Sunday, Feb. 23 when they travel across town to face the Mastodons of IPFW at Pine Ridge Racquet & Fitness Club. The match is scheduled to being at 2 p.m.
