GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's tennis team suffered its third conference loss of the season with a 7-2 defeat to Aquinas at the Gainey Tennis Complex on Wednesday.
In doubles action, the Warriors (5-10, 1-3) pair of Barbara Oliveria and
Raquel Manzoni pushed the Saints (12-10, 2-2) No. 2 duo to the limit, but fell 9-8. The home team took the other two matches as well to head to singles up 3-0.
Tech won its two matches at No. 2 and No. 3 singles as
Ana Hernandez and
Anabell Cordero both won their matches. Hernandez defeated Marjeanne Bothma, 6-4, 6-1 and Cordero took down Rilie DuShane, 6-2, 6-1.
The fifth-seeded Warriors will face the fourth-seeded Saints again on Friday, Apr. 25 at 10:30 a.m. as part of the Unaffiliated Region National Qualifier Tournament in Grand Rapids, Mich. The two teams will meet at the Gainey Tennis Complex.
The winner of the match will then face the winner of the match between top-seeded Davenport and eighth seed, Cornerstone, at 3:30 p.m. at Farmer's Athletic Complex in Caledonia, Mich.
