FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's tennis team and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, Raquel Vescovi, saw their season come to an end on Friday, falling to Aquinas 5-2 in the first round of the NAIA Unaffiliated Group Tournament.
Tech entered the match down a player, meaning they had to forfeit No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. After the heavy rains in Michigan, the matches were played first to five wins. The Warriors were able to get on the board in doubles action as Barbara Oliveria and WHAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree,
Raquel Manzoni, won at No. 2 doubles, 9-7.
In singles play, another All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree,
Ana Hernandez, won her match at No. 2 singles, defeating Ariana Kabodian, 6-1, 6-3. Unfortunately the Warriors third Honorable Mention recipient,
Anabell Cordero, wasn't able to finish her match at No. 3 singles as the Warriors fell, 5-2.
Tech ends the 2014 season 5-11 overall and have some positive moments from which to build heading into the 2014-15 campaign.
