Box Score BOX SCORE | FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After inclement weather forced several time changes and a venue change, the Indiana Tech women's soccer team finally got their 2014 season underway, falling to Taylor University, 1-0 at Carroll High School as part of the Shindigz National Soccer Festival.

It was a hot, muggy day at the home of the Chargers and it was clear from the start that the team that could withstand the elements best would come out on top. The difference in the contest was an Emily Brydon goal at the 28:07 mark in the first half. Brydon dribbled past a couple defends and fired a shot from the top left side of the 18-year box, crossing the front of the goal into the lower right 90 for the game-winner.

Despite the loss, the Warriors defense played well, turning away several scoring chances throughout the contest. With less than 10 minutes to play in the first half, senior keeper Bre Wojnarowski made a stellar save, stopping the Trojans on a one-v-one opportunity.

The Warriors best chance came just four minutes into the second half as Tori Singstock found the feet of Becca Hoklas at the top of the box and the sophomore drilled a shot that the Trojans goalie, Kristina Daniels got her fingers on and was just able to knock down.

Tech outshot Taylor, 13-12 in the contest while each team tallied six shots on goal. Thanks to a late chance which featured three corner kicks in a two minute stretch, the Warriors also won corner kicks, 5-4. Singstock paced the Warriors with six shots, three on goal while freshman Hannah Duschl and the Tech defense earned the praise of Head Coach Jim Lipocky.

"The positive we take from today is that our defense played well," said Lipocky. "We realized after the first tally that we need to make a change and the difference was night and day. We have plenty of scorers on this team and we know we will be successful this season."

The Warriors have two days off before they travel to Palos Heights, Ill. for their first road contest of 2014 when they face Trinity Christian College on Wednesday, Aug. 27 with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
