@INTechWSoccer Records Second Straight Clean Sheet, Winning 3-0

GOSHEN, Ind. – With their third shutout of the season and second in as many games, the Indiana Tech women's soccer team improved to 6-2 on the campaign with a 3-0 victory at Goshen on Tuesday.

The Warriors scored the first marker of the contest, when Darby McCracken found an open Jessica Alvarez who rifled a shot from 20 yards into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

It was one of 11 shots Tech attempted in the first period, putting five on target while the defense limited the home team to just two shots, none on frame.

Tech controlled the second half and Tori Singstock padded the Warriors lead with a pair of tallies. The junior forward made it 2-0 in the 68th minute when she chipped the ball over the keeper's head from 20 yards out. The final marker of the contest came five minutes later when Singstock blasted a shot from 16 yards that slipped through the Maple Leaf's goalkeeper's fingers for the 3-0 lead.

The Warriors outshot Goshen, 19-6, putting 11 shots on frame compared to just one for the Maple Leafs. Tech's Bre Wojnarowski stopped the lone shot she faced in 90 minutes of action to record her second clean sheet of the season.

"We didn't play our best game tonight," said Warriors Head Coach Jim Lipocky after the game. "In the end we played well enough in spurts and controlled the game in the second half."

Tech begins Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play when they return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 27 for a 12 p.m. kickoff at Aquinas.

Corrected stats will be posted on Thursday.
