@INTechMBB's Comeback Falls Short in Second Half

LIMA, Ohio – Chester McFadden led the Indiana Tech men's basketball team back from an 11-point deficit, but couldn't seal the deal, falling to UNOH at Racer Gymnasium, 83-66 on Saturday.

A McFadden layup opened the scoring and gave the Warriors (7-12, 4-7 WHAC) the early lead, but the Racers (13-5, 8-2 WHAC) responded by scoring 23 of the next 26 points to take an 18-point, 23-5 lead. Both teams traded baskets, but the home team couldn't miss from behind the arc, pushing the advantage to 20 with six minutes left in the half. Tanner Watkins gave the Warriors some life with back-to-back three-pointers, sparking a 10-0 run to get within 10. UNOH scored nine of the next 11 points but Watkins and Jared Bloom closed the half with a pair of deep threes to cut the deficit to just 11, 44-33, at the break.

The Racers got the first point out of the break on a free throw, but Tyrese Edwards scored three points the old-fashioned way, sparking a 7-0 run with a pair of McFadden jumpers to get to within five. The teams again traded four-point runs and at the 12:56 mark in the second half, McFadden hit a big three-pointer to cut the Racers lead to two, 55-53. Unfortunately, UNOH scored the next 15 points to take the lead, one they didn't relinquish. The Orange and Black scored the final seven points for the final margin, 83-66.

Tech finished the contest 22-for-51 (43.1%) from the field, 8-for-26 (30.8%) from behind the arc and 14-for-22 (63.6%) from the charity stripe while on the defensive end, UNOH shot 47.5 percent (28-for-59) from the floor and 85.7 percent (18-for-21) at the line.

McFadden finished with a game-high 28 points and added five rebounds with Franklin Lindsey scoring 11 points and a team-high eight boards.

The Warriors return to Dan Kline Court in the Schaefer Center for the first of a three-game homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 14 when they host Michigan-Dearborn for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
