Time Runs Out on @INTechWBB in OT Loss

LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team fell just one second shy of a win at Racer Gymnasium on Saturday, losing to UNOH, 82-80 in overtime.

Taylor Seiss forced a Racers (8-10, 6-4 WHAC) turnover with 15 seconds to play and after missing a three-pointer, had a shot at redemption, firing up a shot that filled the basket, but it left her hand just a second to late in the loss.

The first half featured three ties and two lead changes, but the Warriors (7-12, 6-5 WHAC) last lead in the period came at the 15:32 mark. The two teams traded jumpers and three-pointers in the first three minutes with Taylor Carver's second jumper of the contest giving Tech its first lead, 7-5. The home team then went on a 17-7 run to take an eight-point lead, but the Warriors scored 10 of the next 12 points to tie the game at 24. The Racers closed the half with a 16-6 run to put the Warriors in an eight-point, 40-32, hole at the break.

It was all UNOH to begin the second half, opening the final 20 minutes on a 12-7 run to push the lead to a game-high 13 points, 52-39, with 12:17 to play. After taking another 13-point lead with 11 minutes to play, Tech scored 12 of the next 13 points to cut the deficit to just two. The teams traded baskets with the home team taking a five-point advantage at 4:47, but the Orange and Black used a 6-1 run to tie the score at 70. UNOH took the lead with 1:35 left but a pair of Linsey Masnari free throws tied the score at 72 and the defense held for the final 49 seconds to head to overtime.

The Racers scored the first four points of the extra period and didn't look back as the Warriors were unable to hit a shot from behind the arc in the final seconds, falling on the road, 82-80.

Freshman forward, Linsey Masnari score a game-high 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds while three other Warriors, Seiss (16), Baylee Rinehart (15) and Carver (15) also finished in double-figures.  Carver also tallied a game-high 12 rebounds while junior point guard, Rayana Villalpando, tallied 12 assists.

The Warriors return to Dan Kline Court in the Schaefer Center for the first of a three-game homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 14 when they host Michigan-Dearborn for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
