@INTechMBB's Second Half Surge Falls Short in WHAC Loss

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team had a balanced attack, a strong second half and shot nearly 50 percent from the field, but is wasn't enough in a 68-65 loss to Lourdes at Tam-o-Shanter on Saturday afternoon.

In the first half, the Warriors (9-14, 6-9 WHAC) struggled defensively to contain the Gray Wolves (12-10, 8-6 WHAC), but were able to make runs when necessary to keep the game close. Franklin Lindsey netted the first points for Tech to give them a 3-2 lead and a jumper a minute later cut the deficit to one, 5-6. After Lourdes made a couple baskets, Jared Bloom hit a three-pointer to again get to within one, but a six-point run by the home team pushed the lead to seven. Milos Milidragovic knocked down a trey to cut the lead to six, bit Lourdes responded with another 6-0 run to go up 12 and after Tech got close again, scored six straight to go up by 13. Back-to-back three's from Arben Camaj and Bloom cut the lead to seven, 43-36 and gave Tech the momentum heading to the break.

Josh Fleming opened the second half with a pair of baskets to keep the deficit at five, but again the Gray Wolves pulled away, scoring seven of nine points to go up 10, 52-42. A pair of unanswered three's from Tanner Watkins and Lindsey made it a four-point margin and after trading baskets, Tech scored six straight and eight of nine points to take a 58-57 lead on a Fleming jumper with 9:03 to play. Lourdes scored the next nine points to go back up eight, but Tech answered with a 5-0 run of their own to trail by one, 66-65, with 1:45 left. Unfortunately, the Warriors couldn't convert down the stretch and Lourdes hit a pair of free throws for the 68-65 margin.

The Warriors finished the contest 26-for-53 (49.1%) from the field and 11-for-21 (52.4%) from behind the arc, but the difference in the game was at the charity stripe were Tech finish 2-for-4 (50%) while the Gray Wolves converted 14-of-24 (58.3%) chances.

Lindsey and Camaj each finished with 14 points with the former tallying a team-high nine rebounds while the latter had four rebounds and two blocks. Tanner Watkins added 11 points and Fleming finished with eight points, four rebounds and a team-high five assists.

The Warriors return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 28 when they travel to Adrian, Mich. to face Siena Heights at the SHU Fieldhouse. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. with live video available at www.indianatechwarriors.com/live and live stats available here.
