ADRIAN, Mich. – Franklin Lindsey recorded his third double-double in four games and netted double-digit points for the 15th-straight game as the Indiana Tech men's basketball team limited Siena Heights to just 27 second half points to notch a 75-62 victory at SHU Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
It wasn't a pretty start for the Warriors (10-14, 7-9 WHAC) as the Saints (8-15, 4-11 WHAC) opened the contest with seven straight points before
Josh Fleming netted Tech's first points and Lindsey followed with the first two of his 22 to make it 7-4. After trading baskets, SHU scored six unanswered points to push the deficit to nine. Five straight points by
Chester McFadden cut the deficit to just three, 21-18, but the Saints answered back, pushing the lead back to seven. The Orange and Black came storming back with an 11-2 run to take their first lead of the contest, 29-27. The home team closed the half on an 8-3 run, to take a 35-32 lead into the break.
The lead was short-lived as the Warriors opened the second half with four straight points to go up one. The lead changed hands on three consecutive baskets before the Saints pushed the lead to three, 41-38.
Arben Camaj tied the game with a three-pointer and then put Tech ahead for good with a free throw. His four points were part of a 15-0 run by Tech that pushed the margin to 12, 53-41. The Saints tried to battle back but got no closer than eight points as the Orange and Black hit their free throws down the stretch to salt the game away.
The offense played well, finishing 24-for-57 (42.1%) from the floor and 10-for-25 (40%) from behind the arc while converting 17-of-24 (70.8%) free throws. Tech grabbed 37 rebounds, had 17 assists and got 36 points off the bench. Defensively, Tech held SHU to 38.1 percent (24-for-63) shooting highlighted by a 9-for-32 (28.13%) second half, permitting just two three-pointers all game.
Lindsey led the way with game highs in points (22) and rebounds (11) with McFadden adding 18 points and five assists. Camaj grabbed 10 boards for Tech while also netting six points and recording four of the Warriors eight blocks.
